Largest copper mining company in the world breaks new ground
Codelco is a Chilean state owned copper mining company. It is currently the largest copper producing company in the world. Codelco consists of research, exploration, acquisition and development departments. It has five principal operating divisions, Codelco Norte, Salvador, Andina, Ventanas and El Teniente, and a 49% interest in the El Abra Mine. It has several other potential mining operations under exploration and development including the Alejandro Hales, Gaby/Gabriela Mistral, the Toki Cluster, Mocha, and Casualidad projects. Cistera is proud to provide two way radio recording and broadcasting solutions for mines across the Codelco network. Mining safety is paramount for continued smooth running of all Codelco mines. In the event of a large scale incident, Codelco has the ability to ‘call all’ devices from a phone or through two way radio integration.
Instantaneous Communications are at the heart of any serious health and mining safety environment, from coordinating large vehicles to maintaining consistent communication throughout entire organizations. Although UC has emphasis on collaboration, it is coordination. It is situational awareness, in real time. It is the goto technology for public safety throughout the world.
Two way radio communications have been around for a long time, but only recently have two way radios been integrated into Unified Communications environments as a means dramatically increase the reach of these devices.
Cisco is one of a few phones that have native push to talk capabilities and so has been used for large scale deployment of LMR integration. Two Way Radio integration is used to dramatically improve the mining safety in challenging environments such as the Codelco Mines.
